The local residents of Katindo cell in Ibanda-Kyanya town council in Kasese district have petitioned their district chairperson and Kasese Resident District Commissioner for interventions into possible dredging of river Mubuku whose change of course, is posing a threat to the Wanainchi.
In their petition, the local residents state that whereas river Mubuku commonly bursts her banks between March and May, and, September and December each year, the existing signs and current behavior of the water, depict more deadly effects during the rainy seasons, according to Hon, Christopher Kapere, the district councilor representing the elderly in Ibanda-Kyanya town council in Kasese who also called for urgent plans for bamboo tree seedlings for the locals to plant along river banks. Mr. Stephen Baluku and Racheal Kyuma, some local residents, asked the Kasese district local government to expedite plans of rehabilitating the arch bridge that connects Katindo-Rwenzori High and Ibanda Primary school for the safety of learners as schools open for business early next month.
