A week-long inter agency inspection of World Bank funded infrastructure projects in six mid-western local governments is under way.
The projects that include roads under construction are in the regional cities of Hoima and Fort Portal, including Kasese and Mubende Municipalities.
Others are the refugee host districts of Isingiro and Kamwenge, where the World Bank funded projects comprising Class-1 Gravel roads-50 km, two markets and two community resource centres worth about 57 billion shillings in total.
Ms Olive Nalugo, a project engineer with Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development-Additional Financing noted that “local governments have since received their disbursements and faster progress and timely completion of projectsare expected.
Meanwhile, the Uganda National Roads Authority has authorized buses to use Katonga Bridge along Kampala- Masaka highway following an assessment which established the bridge can withstand up to 30 tons.
According to the yesterday statement by UNRA, buses and other light vehicles are free to use the bridge under strict observance of the precautionary measures. END
