By Josephine,
Food vendors mainly matooke dealers in the popular Mawa market in Kasese Municipality regret the fluctuating prices of their produce on the Market.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio in the Market today, they said whereas the low prices of matooke and sweet potatoes were exciting the local community, the dealers were suffering the facts that transport fares, market dues and loading fees have remained the same.
Ms. Silvia Biira and Brenda Nyangoma like many other traders who depend on loans, attributed the fall in food price to high quantities of bananas and sweet potatoes from the greater Tooro and Ankole regions sold by traders but also local farmers themselves.
Ms. Nyangoma and Ms Biira speaking………
Mr. Hamza Yetware, the treasurer for Mawa Market Vendors’ Association said the low prices of produce, including sweet, potatoes and motooke like many others on the market had affected both the savings by members and taxes. Mr. Hamza speaking ……
Mr. Jimmy Bwambale however called for calm among the local traders, saying the abundance of food on the market was the safety of the local community members who have other obligation to spend on, including the school fees for their children. Mr. Bwambale speaking…….
He called for consultations from experts that would see them keep in business by serving their clients without making losses. END.
