Over twenty Vanilla farmers in Kasese district are reportedly stuck with their harvest over what they call unreliable demand and market, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
Mr. Yohazi Musekya, the Chairperson Kitholhu Vanilla cooperative society ltd like his counterparts in Bukonzo East says there seems to be fewer buyers and yet government had pledged to avail market should the farmers go by the recommended guidelines.
He was worried that the situation was forced them into losses now that the stored vanilla is routing. Mr. Yohazi speaking………
A seemingly disappointed, Mr. Sinogha Bwambale, a local farmer currently camped in Kasese Municipality with his vanilla, wonders why government has not fully intervened in their market search. Mr. Sinogha speaking……….
To Mr. Binyatsi Andereya from Kyabikere one in Kanyatsi –Kithoma town council and others, government should not invest much in restricting the harvest of vanilla without sourcing for market and fixing prices. END.
