Mr. Erias Byamungu, the Kasese Chief Administrative Officer has revealed that he won’t approve any funding aimed at securing halls in hotels for the district council sittings.
He said spending about 200.000 shillings for a council session under unavoidable circumstance, isn’t a nugatory expenditure but must not be made a culture.
His response follows the recent threats by Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District Forum for Democratic Change chairperson who threatened to mobilize the masses for a peaceful demonstration against the district move to have council sessions in a hotel over the vandalized Kasese Multi-purpose hall he thinks must be put right to minimize expenditures. Addressing the media at his office at the district headquarters in Rukoki over the weekend, Mr. Byamungu who revealed he had cleared about seven hundred million shillings to fix the council hall, said the only council sitting in a hotel was because Kasese polytechnic hall, they intend to use, was under rehabilitation then but all has been done to have future council sessions there. Earlier, Mr. Muhindi Erifaz, the Kasese district local council five chairperson, said the Speaker has the powers to determine where to host his council, before revealing that plans were on to have the Kasese Multipurpose Hall rehabilitated soon. Mr. Muhindi speaking……
