Kihara Road Farmers Association in Kasese Municipality have petitioned Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA over Elephant encroachment on their crop gardens.
In their petition dated September 02. 2022 to UWA, the residents contend that elephants and buffaloes continue to destroy their crops, as well as being a threat to human life.
The petition was delivered by officials of Kihara Road Farmers Association to Fort Portal High Court, the association Chairperson, Mr. Nelson Nzende Isebahasa has said.

Addressing farmers shortly after receiving over 200 Hoes donated by Kasese Municipality MP Hon.Kambale Ferigo to disaster farmers in Kihara and Scheme wards yesterday, Nzende say several hectares of maize, beans, sweet potatoes, and bananas have been destroyed by wild animals over the years, let alone being a threat to human life.
The residents want UWA to erect an electric fence around Kanyangeya ward to deter the beasts.
