Some Parents in Kasese District have described the introduction of Universal Primary Education-UPE Programme as a boost to education among the school going age.
The Program initiated in 1997 is aimed to provide free education to all children in Uganda.

The Parents made the remarks yesterday shortly after the commissioning of the construction and renovation works of Primary schools across the district, funded by the Government of Uganda under the school Maintance grant.
Ms. Moreen Kamalha, Kasese District Assistant Engineering Officer told the congregation at Saad Islamic Primary School Nyamirami and Kiburara Primary school in Kisinga sub-county, that Government has injected a lot of money into the schools to have good learning environment for the learners.
Kamalha who called for collaborated effort with the contractor, asked locals applying for casual labor to have descipline in order to avoid friction at the sites. Eng. Kamalha speaking…..
Kasese District Communications Officer, Ms Sharon Kabugho, however, stressed that as government builds and equips schools with the necessary tools and paying teachers, the parents have a role of mobilizing the learners to utilize those institutions effectively.
Officiating at the commissioning exercise at both sites, the Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Busongora County, Mr.Zephanus Mubingwa observed need for the parents to gift their children with education as the only legacy.
