Forty one suspects were killed and 90 others captured during the simultaneous attacks in Fort-portal city, the districts of Kasese and Bundibugyo, the UPDF leadership in the Rwenzori sub-region has said.

During a press briefing held at Muhoti Army barracks in Fort Portal City yesterday, Maj. Gen. Stephen Mugerwa, the Mountain Division and Operation Shuuja Commander, confirmed the 19 suspects killed in Kasese district, 21 and 42 suspects killed and arrested respectively in Fort-portal.
Maj Gen. Mugerwa later revealed that besides the six police officers wounded during the attacks in Kasese district, a UPDF officers, his wife and two suspected attackers were killed in Bundibugyo district, and 22 captured.
He said Mr. Asuman Mukirania Muganzi, the suspected ringleader and a resident of Kakuka II village, Sindilea Sub- County in Bundibugyo district, was also killed during the attacks.
Gen. Mugerwa who said the UPDF and her sister security agencies were ready to protect Uganda and her citizens, warned the public against pointing fingers and apportioning blame to a particular ethnicity, adding that the assailants were from different tribes and areas across the country. Earlier, the acting Division PRO, Maj. Robert Kijuma said plans had been finalized to have the dead bodies of the suspected attackers transported from Muhoti army barracks to Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital to allow families view and identify their relatives before the burial ceremonies.
