Meanwhile, The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has taken over the security of Kampala Metropolitan Area in order to stop ‘rioters’ from wreaking havoc in the capital city.

Speaking last evening at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki, the deputy spokesperson of the UPDF said that they have credible intelligence that shows that some political actors with foreign support are planning to carry out a series of riots in the town.

He said the riots are aimed at forcefully overthrowing the democratically elected government of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This development comes on the heels of two successive days of protests in Kampala and around several towns in the country after the arrest and detention of National Unity Platform – NUP presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine.

Lt. Col. Akiiki said that their officers have also been deployed on all the roads leading to and from Kampala and on all the major roads. ENDS.
