The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, indicating a modest improvement in overall candidate performance compared to recent years, with English emerging as the best subject for learners.
The results, announced during a ceremony presided over by the First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, at State House Nakasero, today morning, showed that the proportion of candidates attaining Division One has increased compared to 2024, allowing more learners to qualify for the next level of education.
According to UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo, 91,990 candidates, representing 11.39 per cent of the total, achieved Division One. A total of 817,883 candidates from 15,388 examination centers registered for PLE in 2025 compared to 797,444 in 2024.
Mr. Odongo explained that candidates performed best in English, followed by Integrated Science and Mathematics. Social Studies with Religious Education was worst done.
In Kasese Municipality, At Trusted Care Junior School, seventy candidates were registered, with sixty-five passing in Division One and five in Division two, according to the school head teacher, Mr. Kyana Cyprus.
At Parental Care School, forty candidates passed in Divisions One and Two, while Infant Preparatory School all thirty-five candidates passed.
At Real Vision Primary School, twenty-four candidates passed in Division One. Shine Preparatory School registered twenty-five pupils, all of whom passed in Divisions One and Two. More
At Cranes Model Primary School–Nyakasanga, twenty-eight candidates passed in Division One, a result confirmed by the school head teacher, Mr. Moris Bwambale.
Meanwhile, at Margarita Demonstration School, out of sixty-seven candidates, fifty-six passed in Divisions One and Two. At Excellent Primary School in Kisinga Town Council, seven out of twelve candidates passed in Division One, while five passed in Division Two.
