Since 2013, Kasese District has been grappling with floods that often cause river banks to burst.
The increase in heavy rainfall is attributed to the changing climate patterns and rapid loss of forest cover, due to trees being cut down to be used for fuel.
Now residents of Kyalhumba sub-county are seeking for a permanent solution to the effects of climate change that has reportedly led to loss of lives and properties.
During a meeting convened yesterday by Umbrella for Journalists in Kasese-UJK, held at Kyalhumba sub-county headquarters, the local community requested partnership with government and civil society organizations to supply them with Bamboo trees that would be planted along River Nyamugasani Valley.
