    UGX 26B returned to National treasury in 2020-2021 F/Y-Mr. Tumwesigye reveals.

    The Kasese Municipal Town clerk, Mr. Isaiah Tumwesigye has revealed that only twenty six Billion shillings was returned to National treasury in the F/Y 2020 -2021 as a result of a number of petitions by those he called un satisfied contractors who could not take up roles over the delayed procurement process.

    Mr. Tumwesigye comments following public concerns on why about sixty billion shillings could have been returned to the central government treasury when Kasese district had a number of financial challenges.

    He said the money couldn’t be spent when the bidders to handle contracts were not satisfied with the procurement process and some petitions about the same money were on. Mr. Tumwesigye speaking1……..

    Mr. Tumwesigye who said that more funding from government is yet to be wired to Kasese Municipality called for calm among the local community now that the monies under USMID that was absorbed by the treasury; had been returned to allow sourcing of a possible bidder soon after disposing off the few pending petitions.     Earlier last Month, Rt. Hon. Robina Nabanja asked the Inter Ministerial committee led by the third Deputy Premier, Rukia Nakada to investigate reasons why about sixty Billion shillings from Kasese district was returned to the treasury. END.
