Poor case management by police officers in Kasese district is to blame for delayed justice in defilement cases, Kasese guide radio has learnt.
During a stakeholders meeting with Uganda Network on Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS-UGANET held at their offices in Kasese town yesterday(10th.June.2022), it was anonymously agreed to hold high level meeting with top authorities dealing in case management in Kasese to address the missing gaps.
Kasese district Senior Probation and welfare officer, Ms. Asiimwe Zainabu who is also a member of the district Human Rights Committee, said she was not happy with the way police statements are recorded and entered.Ms.Zainabu and others 1…….
She condemned police for reportedly giving bail to defilement suspects in custody, a case in point being in Kinyamaseke and Hima town councils.Ms. Zainabu on Bail 2……
Ms.Zainabu urged police to forward defilement suspects to courts of law within 48 hours than tactfully delaying them at police to secure bail.
Ms.Alice Kabatembuzi, the monitoring and evaluation officer from UGANET Secretariat Kampala, had earlier said that UGANET is committed to working with district human rights committees in fifty six districts, Kasese in particular to bridge the gaps in human right violation among different actors.
