Uganda’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 2,263 cases after tests done yesterday indicate that 97 new cases were confirmed.

According to the health ministry, the cases were registered from the 4,005 samples from alerts, contacts, returnees and at points of entry tested yesterday.

Out of the 2,504 samples tested from alerts and contacts, 90 positive cases were confirmed.

Of the 1,501 samples tested from the points of entry, six of the confirmed cases were Ugandans, while 10 were foreign truck drivers who were denied entry after testing positive.

Meanwhile, the chief political commissar of Uganda Police, AIGP Asan Kasingye, has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a tweet, Kasingye declared that his test had turned up positive, him being the first senior public official to declare his Covid-19 status. End
