At least 55 people died over the three-day Christmas celebrations across the country.
The deaths occurred between December 24 and December 26.
Among the incidents, 12 were victims of assault, 3 were hacked to death, 2 drowned, 2 were lynched and 7 were hit with blunt objects.
Six other people were stabbed to death, while five committed suicide, 2 were strangled to death, 5 died from suspected sudden death, 4 fatalities resulted from reckless and negligent acts among others.
According to the police report, the 55 fatalities resulted from 91 reported cases, marking a decrease from the 110 cases recorded during the same period in 2023.

Despite the reported incidents, the police spokesperson noted that the Christmas period was generally peaceful across the country. END
