Uganda today joins the rest of the world in celebrating the International Hepatitis day with a call on stakeholders to intensify sensitization to create more awareness against the disease.
The day was set aside by the World Health Organization to specifically create awareness and promote Global action against the viral disease.
Mr. Farouk Kibaba, the Director for Great Lakes Peace Center, an NGO operating in the Rwenzori Sub-Region calls for massive awareness, including preventive plans against the disease that mainly targets the human liver.
Mr. Farouk later said that his organization will today among others, sensitize, vaccinate and test for Hepatitis B at no cost, members of the community at Bwera Hospital. Mr. Farouk Speaking……
This year’s theme is, “Bringing hepatitis B care closer to you”, with an aim of creating awareness about the need to simplify and bring hepatitis B care to primary health facilities, community-based venues and locations beyond hospital sites for the good of the common person. END
