Uganda has registered a new case of the Coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 122.
The new case is a Ugandan truck driver who arrived from Juba via Elegu, his sample having been part of 2,296 other samples that were tested last night at the Uganda Virus Research Institute, Entebbe.
The case brings the number of confirmed Ugandan truck drivers to 10 though the drivers test positive on way from neighbouring countries.
To reduce on risk of spread from positive truck drivers, the health ministry is going to launch on site testing at the Malaba and Mutukula border posts this week.
Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu, the executive director of the Uganda Virus Research Institute says that the genexpert machines to be installed can release results within one hour. In Kenya, the cases have hit as many as 700, 251 recoveries and 33 death. END
