The contractor for the construction of the Uganda-DR Congo tarmac road is already in Kasese district as sourcing for accommodation of staff and office sites, the Mpondwe Lhubiriha town council loca council three chairman, Mr. Selevest Mapoze has said.
Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have signed major agreements that will see the two countries bolster cross-border trade, development and the stabilization of eastern Congo.
Mr. Mapoze told Kasese Guide radio yesterday that the Chines contractor was already in the area ready to begin work soon but sourcing for the accommodation of Staff, offices and construction camp sites that will also include the required parking space is what is being done before reals ground work can begin. President Museveni and his DR Congo counterpart Felix Antoine Tshisekedi were in Kasese last month to commission the construction of 223 kilometer of roads that will connect the two countries, urging their contractors to undertake the roads projects immediately.
According to the agreement, Uganda and her counterpart the DR Congo will each contribute 20% as the contractor backed by the Chinese government pay the 60% of the total bills. END.
