As Uganda Joins the rest of the World in the commemoration of the world food day today, small scale farmers have been encouraged to champion food security by promoting organic farming.

Addressing members of Agro-ecology schools under Eastern and Southern Africa small scale farmers’ Forum in Road barrier cell in Kasese Municipality yesterday, Hon. Peter Okeyoh, the Legislator for Bukooli county in Mayuge district and a member of Uganda Parliamentary Alliance on food and nutrition security, welcomed the initiative that is targeting high quality and quantities of food to minimize some diseases partly as a result by some chemicals.

In response, Hon. Ferigo Kambale, the Kasese Municipal Legislator, called for calm among the locals now that the government of Uganda has secured a ninety eight Billion shillings loan from World Bank, for construction works to make Nyamwamba river valley habitable in a period of one year.
