The former President of Uganda Journalists Association, Mr. Robert Kagolo has been shot dead.

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said that Kagolo was killed by a Local Defence Unit personnel identified as Rashid Mamuli who was guarding the home of deceased’s brother at Kasengeje village in Wakiso district last evening.

According to ASP Owoyesigyire, the family of Kagolo’s brother who was reportedly kidnapped and found dead on Wednesday asked for security from the Local Defence Unit to guard the home when the family had left for burial.

According to police preliminary findings, Rashid opened fire at Kagolo who was banging the gate asking them to open for him after suspecting that unknown people were following him.

However, the LDU personnel refused to open for him, resulting in a scuffle.

Mr. Kagolo was a News Editor with Star Fm and a presenter of the current affairs program.

May his soul rest in peace. END
