The Fort Portal chief magistrate, Her Worship Shiela Fionah Angura has remanded two teachers to Katojo government Prison till December 5th over forgery of official documents.
Last evening, court heard that Aramanthan Mugenyi and Winifred Achan forged official documents, contrary to Section 349 of the Penal Code Act.
Prosecution told the court that in year 2019, Mugenyi forged a posting instruction dated August 29th, 2019, purporting that the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Sports had deployed him to Mpanga Secondary School in Kabarole to teach Geography and History. Court also heard that Achan, in the year 2021, forged a posting instruction dated March 23rd, 2021, purporting that the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Sports had deployed her to Kibiito Secondary School on Bunyangabu to teach English/Literature.
Both Mugenyi and Achan pleaded not guilty to the offense and applied for bail through their lawyer Victor Businge. Counsel Businge speaking…….
However, their bail application was challenged by Andrew Kasaija, the Fort portal State Attorney on grounds that the duo if released would interfere with the ongoing investigations. END
