Two armed thugs suspected to be members of UPDF have been arrested at Naarya roundabout under the pursuit by the Police, after engaging a cash robbery of more than 100 milling Uganda Shillings that was being taken to the bank in Lungujja in Kampala.
The two suspects currently detained at Kira-Division Police have been identified as Opio Kakaire and James Namisi, who were found with military wares, a pistol, handcuffs and housebreaking instruments in their vehicle Toyata Noah registration number UBN 360N.
In the process, one suspect who was fleeing was shot and injured before the team of flying squad combined with officers from Kira-Division Police apprehended him and his colleague, but two of their accomplices escaped.
Preliminary findings have indicated the thugs armed with a pistol, trailed and kidnapped one Shatrah Namata, an employee of a hardware shop in Lungujja, a Kampala City suburb as she went to the bank yesterday but later dumped in areas of Kiwanga-Bweyogerere in Kira Municipality; where she made alarm, attracting boda-boda riders who were joined by the Police in pursuing the vehicle of the thugs who were attempting to fix another number plate on the same vehicle.
