Two people are said to have been arrested during a joint operation of UPDF and police for reportedly dealing in illegal fishing gears, Kasese Guide Radio has learnt.
No official statement yet from the security operators but the Kasese district Fisheries officer, Mr. Erisenia Bwambale Kitaghenda said the two suspects, Mr. Charles Mugisha and Vicent Bagumanya, both Kasese Municipal based traders were arrested for trading in un recommended hooks and under sized fishnets.
He said more than four thousand illegal hooks and thirty thousand under sized fishnets had been exhibited at the Kasese Division police station as investigations start. Mr. Erisenia speaking1………..
Mr. Erisenia later said the operation switched to these famous dealers in illegal fishing gears to neutralize poor fishing methods that have not only affected some innocent fish mongers but also affected nature conservation. Mr. Erisenia speaking2……….
