    Tourism industry urged to develop eco-tourism-Hon. Butime

    Stake holders in the tourism industry have been encouraged to develop eco-tourism because the demand for it has gone up all over the world.

    Eco-tourism is ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation.

    This was revealed yesterday(08th.September.2022) by the Minister of tourism and antiquities, Hon.Tom R Butime at the inauguration of the second governing council of the Uganda Wildlife research and training institute held at their campus in Katwe-Kabatoro town council in Kasese district.

    Hon.Butime said that eco-tourism was important because it contributes to the conservation of bio-diversity.

    Minister Butime observed the demand for eco-tourism is on the rise because of the growing aging population in the developed world where most of our tourists come from.

    Dr. Sarah Nalule, the incoming chairperson governing council, promised to promote equitable management of public resources, development and management of public funds.Dr. Sarah Nalule speaking….

    Earlier, Minister Butime condoled with the affected families in Kasika Village, Rukoki sub-county whose relatives perished in mudslide. END.
