The Rukiga district Authorities are perturbed by the locals who are turning their homes into bars to beat the restrictions imposed to control the spread of coronavirus disease.
The Resident District Commissioner Prikeria Muhindo who said many of these do not even observe physical distancing guidelines as outlined by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation said that after stopping people from gathering in bars as well as walking at night, bar owners have now shifted the business to their homes where customers secretly converge to drink but ran during security operation though many of these have been arrested as the operators complain bitterly. Ms Provia Tumwebaze from Rukiga town council says she has personally reported the matter to security authorities for intervention after men including her husband declined to adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures especially on avoiding gatherings but instead use bushes, homes and trees than spending on their families.Ms Provia speaking……
Moses Twinamasiko, a resident of Kitojo parish in Rwamucucu sub-county had earlier said that security partly fails to curb this vice due to bad roads and other transport challenges but also because of some of the perpetuators who disguise as part of the nearby families whenever police attempts to arrest them.
