The District Disaster committee has embarked on strengthening community capacities and emergency response to disasters during this down pour.
They provide guidelines for response and early actions towards identified hazards including floods and landslides that are likely to affect Kasese district in September and November.
Mr. Joseph Isingoma, the Secretary for disaster committee told a one day stakeholders dialogue meeting held at Kasese district council hall today, that Uganda National Metrological Authority has indicated that rainfall in several parts of the country, especially in hilly areas of Rwenzori, Eastern Region and Lake Victoria Basin are likely to be disastrous.

Isingoma said preparedness strengthens the district ability to cope with the ever changing environmental landscape and builds community’s resilience in the long run.
Mr. Eriab Begumya Ntarwate, the Assistant Chief Administrative officer for Kasese district, said procurement for the proposed land to resettle IDPS is underway, calling for collaborated effort among stakeholders.
