The Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Kasese has dismissed the case where Five National Unity Platform-NUP members were arrested last year over conspiracy to commit a felony resulting to treason, Kasese guide radio has learnt.
Presiding over the Ruling this morning the Kasese Chief magistrate, His worship Opiyo James dismissed the five suspects after the state allegedly failed to produce evidence over the matter.
Court heard that on 3rd, November, 2021 while in Kilembe Quarters in Kasese town, Five NUP Members led by Mr. Brian Basisa, Mr. Isaac Mumbere, Mr. Oniz Kule both from Kasese district together with Mr. Atanazio Esande from Ntoroko and Mr. Geofrey Bwambale from Bundibugyo district were arrested and detained on allegation of treason.
Counsel Kironde Emmanuel, the Lawyer Representing Nup from Boris advocates told our reporter his clients were set free after submitting his request for dismissal now that the state had reportedly failed to produce evidence for the last eight months. Counsel Kironde on NUP….
