Ten traditional schools in Bukonzo County East in Kasese district have been selected to pilot a project aimed improving the academic standards in the area.
In an interview with Kasese Guide Radio shortly after a one day training and consultative meeting of selected representatives of the schools held at Trusted Care Nursery and Primary school in Kasese Municipality last weekend, Mr. Amis Masereka Asuman, the Chairperson for Bukonzo East Community said the plan to have piloting schools followed a survey that revealed a drastic decline in academics and Co-curricular activities that the constituency was formerly proud of. Mr. Ben Kirere, an educationist and member of Bukonzo East Community thus, calling for the promotion of motivating inputs for teachers and learners before asking all the education stakeholders to be passionate about their roles if they were to deliver as expected.

The lead facilitator at the training, Mr. Zake Sekitoleko noted that for a school to improve in academics, it requires functional systems, as well as active parents, pupils, staff and school management and PTA committees that ably execute their roles, including among others; collaborating with the local community.
