Kasese Municipal leadership has to dig more into its coffers to beautify her taxi park as pledged if taxi operators are to re-occupy it.

As works on the roads under Uganda Support to Municipality Infrastructure Development began, engagements that almost turned violent between the Kasese Municipal leadership and Taxi operators resulted into a consensus, including taxis temporarily shifting to a privately owned space at the roundabout as a taxi park.

Mr. Vincent Baluku, the Vice chairperson for Bwera stage like many other taxi operators said, beautifying the taxi park was one of the main conditions that convinced them.

He said they had been convinced that other than the inconveniences to the taxis caused by the road construction under USMID in Kasese Municipality, shifting temporarily to the current space would give the Municipal leadership the required time to beautify the taxi park, which to them, must be done. Mr. Baluku speaking……

Hon. John Siriwayo, the Kasese Municipal Secretary for Works and Technical Services called for calm among taxi owners and drivers, saying Kasese Municipal government had already agreed with Railway-18 contractor to work on the Kasese taxi park. Mr. Siriwayo speaking…

He also used the same platform to ask taxi operators to observer traffic guide lines in the Kasese town center as road works goes on. END
