Mr. Jalali Muhindo is the newly elected chairperson for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha United Taxi Drivers, owners and conductors’ association after defeating Mr. Zile Masereka.
Declaring the results at the town council headquarters yesterday, the returning officer who is also an area senior community development officer, Mr. Justus Mukirania declared Mr. Jalalias the new chairperson after scoring one hundred twelve votes against eight by his competitor, Mr. Zile Masereka.
Mr. Jalali is deputized by Mr. Abdul Mulisya, Mr. Amos Kule as the stage leader, Mr. Maliki Masereka comes on board as treasurer while Mr. William Thembo Kaputhu,takes the slot of the general secretary among others.Mr. Mukirania declaring……..
In his maiden speech, Mr. Jalali pledged to be a unifier and a transparent custodian of the association’s resources he said will not only benefit the group but individual members as well. Mr. Jalali speaking……
Mr. Zile Masereka and Mr. Gideon Sahasa who lost the seats for chairman and vice chairperson respectively, pledged to support the new leadership after what they described as free and fair elections.

In a separate interview, Mr. Ayubu Kasero Ntumeli, the outgoing association chairperson, threatened to petition court against what he called the illegal elections whose process he alleges, was influenced by some selfish individuals. Mr.KaseroNtumeli speaking……
