Suspected father who poisoned 2 step daughters arrested-Police

Police in Kasese district is investigating circumstances under which two pupils died this morning after allegedly eating suspected poisoned food.

The Community Liaisons Officer for Rwenzori East Region, SP.Luke Mbusa confirmed and identified the deceased as late Catherine Kabugho 13 and Caroline Mbambu 8 years.

It’s alleged that the deceased children died from Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town after reportedly eating Rolex chapatti and cheers soft drink laced with rat-rat Poison by their step father a popular Kasese based Herbalist, Dr. Hajji Abdu Kasita.

According to SP.Mbusa, the suspect Dr.Hajji Abdu Kasita is already in police custody at Kasese Central Police station pending investigations.

SP. Mbusa also identified the Biological parents of the deceased children’s as, Mr. Julius Sumata, a resident of Saluti B in Kasese Municipality and Ms. Mary Murungi, a Police officer attached to Masaka Police station.

Mr. Wilson Lhughabwe, the senior community development officer for Kasese Municipality, who strongly condemned the act, warned coupes against divorce, which he partly attributed to the death of two juveniles.
