Wild animals suspected to be elephants are reported to have destroyed crops in Nyabugando one and two cells in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council in Kasese district.
The Kasese district woman councilor representing Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council, Hon. Lillian Masika confirmed the information and said the wild beasts said to have avoided the electric wire, crossed river Lhubiriha through Virunga national park in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, destroyed crops, trees, a house, as well as drinking local brew that was being prepared along the Uganda-DRC boundary valley. Hon. Lillian who asked for support to the ADF survivor and orphan whose crops were destroyed too, calls for deliberate collaboration between Uganda and the DRC governments for the extension of the electric wire on both sides as a lasting solution in protecting lives and property from wild beast attacks. She also called for more vigilance by the locals mainly who move at night, or else, they risk being attacked by wild animals. END.
