By Josephine Nyamicu,
Kasese Municipality continues to struggle with the high prevalence of stunted growth and Malnutrition among children below the age of five years.
Stunted growth is the impaired growth and development that children experience from poor nutrition, repeated infection, and inadequate psycho-social stimulation.
Mr. James Mwiruwabo, the Kasese Municipal Health Centre three in charge told our reporter yesterday that the facility has established a malnutrition unit to sensitize mothers about balanced diet.
He identified the most affected cells, as Kizungu and Kitooro in Nyamwamba division. Mr. Mwiruwabo speaking…..
He attributed this state of affairs to family heads, especially husbands, who have not bothered to embrace the good dieting. Mwiruwabo said it is unfortunate that sometimes even the mothers of children who are on treatment do not follow guidelines from the medics. END
