Police in Busoga North has confirmed the arrest of Godfrey Kiiza, the in charge of medical supplies store at Nankandulo health center IV, in Kamuli district over illegal sell of government drugs meant for this facility.
He is suspected for repacking and selling largely anti-malarial drugs, HIV/AIDs drugs and test kits. The officer in charge of State house health monitoring unit in eastern Uganda, Mpaata Owa’gage says that, their inquiries revealed how the amount of drugs were not tallying with the recipients, causing lack of accountability for the drugs received and dispensed at the facility thus, raising a red flag on possibility of theft.
Mpaata further says that, Kiiza who has since apologized and consented to have committed the crime, was falsifying drug stock-outs before his supervisors, as a means easily selling drugs without their notice. END
