The State Minister for Gender and Culture, Hon. Peace Regis Mutuuzo has asked the Kasese district leadership to reconsider sub-dividing the district into other administrative units for improved service delivery.

Mutuuzo was responding to Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, the Kasese district chairperson’s remarks that government should consider increasing funding specifically for Kasese that is too big and partly hard to reach compared to smaller districts that receive equal shares of funds from government. Hon. Mutuuzowas concerned that the over populated, mountainous and vast Kasese district with about 800,000 people was receiving among others, a similar single road unit, funding and district hospital with Bunyangabu district that has hardly two hundred thousand people.

The minister further asked the Kasese people against being lured into diversionary political propaganda that is hostile to the ruling government that is working hard to tap into the wealth potentials; the Standard Gauge Railway, revamping of Kilembe mines, Katwe salt mining and Kasese international airport, as well as the construction of the Obuhikira Palace, mainly to promote local and international trade and tourism in the region.
