The Speaker of Parliament, Ms Anita Among, has slammed “self-seekers’ who engaged in recent ‘March to Parliament’ protests and assure that she will not resign like others are demanding.
She said has one more term and when she completes her five years in the next term she the mantle to her young brother Thomas to take over because it’s not good to cling to power.”
The Speaker who also asked the President to protect the legislative arm of government, made the remarks yesterday while attending a Thanksgiving ceremony for her Deputy Thomas Tayebwa during the ceremony to handover St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Kigarama in Mitooma District to Kigarama parishioners.
The Speaker also defended the August House, arguing that corruption doesn’t start from Parliament since members of Parliament are not accounting officers. END
