Rev Aineya Kule Kakundere of South Rwenzori Diocese has decried the worsening state of the road leading from Bwera town to Mpondwe Border export zone, citing its dire impact to business and health care access.
Presiding over requiem service of late Vangerine Masika 95 at the deceased’s matrimonial home in Kisolholho in Karambi subcounty yesterday, Rev Kakundere said the road riddled with potholes has become a major challenge for transport, particularly connecting to the boarder.
Kakundere, who said the road plays a critical role in business and health care services for both Ugandans and Congolese nationals due to its proximity to the boarder, called for urgent intervention by government to have the road constructed. Rev Kakundere speaking….
Mr. Erifaz Muhindi, the Kasese district chairperson blamed the poor state of roads to failure by the local government of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council to implement Road fund and local revenue collections.

In his response, Mr. Selevest Mapoze, the chairperson local council three for Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council attributed the poor road net-work to delayed releases by central government this financial year.

The deteriorating road infrastructure is not unique to Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council, several other critical roads in Kasese District, including the Kikorongo-Mpondwe border road, Rugendabara- Kitswamba road are also in dire need of rehabilitation. END
