The Kasese district inspector of schools in charge of Busongora County North, Mr. Herbart Kato Centenary, partly blames poor academic performance among learners to parents and guardians who do not fulfill their obligations.

Addressing education stakeholders, most of them learners, parents and guardians of Kuruhe High School in Kitswamba town council in Kasese district on Tuesday, Mr. Kato was concerned that whereas parents send their children to school, some do not do enough to provide for the needs of their children in school, thus, making the learners vulnerable to any diversion. Lt. Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in charge of Bukonzo County, concurred with Mr. Kato, adding that whereas government was aiding some schools, parents must pay the agreed support fund that should however not affect the learners.

Earlier, Lt. Magwara, called for the promotion of crop rotation, an agricultural method he says will break the monotony of a single crop, maize, that has dominated gardens every season in the greater Kitswamba in Kasese district. END
