By Jonex Babulya,
Thorough investigations are required following allegations by children who were originally members of the temporary camp at the RDC’s office had failed to re-access their parents following the Kasese District Security committee’s decision to dissolve the camp.

In an interaction with our reporter, some four juveniles; Elvin Mbambu7 years, Wiliam Bwambale12, Linet Muhindo 9 and Sajoni Turemwa 16 year, alleged that they had got out of the camp with permission as usual hours before the RDC’s orders, but have since not been allowed in.

The juveniles who asked to be allowed to join their families in the camp, allegedly eat from the dustbins and sleep on streets of Kasese Municipality. Elvin, William and Linet speaking…….

When contacted, Mr. Faisal Babigumira Kilarira, the Kasese district Probation and Welfare officer, could not commit himself over the matter now that he was in the camp for phyco-social support sessions days ago, and no parent raised any concerns related to that. In a similar way, Mr. Wilson Lhughabwe, the Kasese Municipal Senior Community Development officer, said he would investigate the claims immediately he returns from his official trip out of Kasese.
