Sergeant Moses Kambeho, the supervisor of the Fisheries Protection Unit in charge of Kasese sector, has warned the public against illegal fishing activities on Lakes George and Edward in Kasese District.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio yesterday at the Kasese Central Police Station, Sgt. Kambeho noted that some fishermen have resorted to using hideouts within Queen Elizabeth National Park to smuggle immature fish into the community an act he strongly condemned as illegal.
He said that the fishermen are allegedly smoking the fish in these hideouts before distributing them to consumers in local markets.
He issued a stern warning to the perpetrators, urging them to desist before facing the full force of the law. Sgt. Kambeho speaking…
