There is heightened security along the Fort Portal–Bundibugyo road following an attack by an unknown group of people in the area.

Our reporter saw a heavy presence of UPDF troops and police personnel, particularly around Ibonde Trading Center in Fort Portal City North Division.
Security personnel are searching all vehicles entering Fort Portal from Bundibugyo and Ntoroko districts.
The deployment follows an early morning raid today, during which six suspected attackers were killed in Ibonde and Karago Wards.
According to residents, the attackers estimated to be around 40 in number arrived from the Bundibugyo side, armed with machetes and carrying bags.
They were reportedly heading toward Canon Apollo Core PTC when locals raised the alarm.
Before security forces arrived, residents killed two of the attackers in Ibonde. UPDF soldiers later gunned down four others near Canon Apollo Core PTC.
Security forces have also captured two other suspected attackers at Ibonde Trading Center, while others are believed to have fled towards Kasese and Bundibugyo districts. However, the Kasese RDC, Lt. Joe Walunsimbi, called for calm, reaffirming security’s intervention into the suspected attacks. END
