Schools opened for third term yesterday with the worst enrolment, Mr. George Mayinja, the Kasese district Principal Education officer has said.
Speaking to Kasese guide radio shortly after a tour of schools yesterday, Mr. Mayinja described the low turn up of learners as very worrying, asking parents to send their children to school before it’s too late
The head teacher for Kihungamuyagha primary school in Kyalhumba sub county, Mr. Jocknus Bwambale concurred with Mr. Mayinja, saying that only 120 of the 900 learners at the school reported for classes on the first day yesterday. Mr. Jocknus speaking………
Mr. Mulekera Baluku, the local council one Chairperson for Kihungamuyagha said he had mobilized his executive and concerned local residents for an operation against loitering learners in the area.
Hon. Jimmy Bwambale, the central division councilor representing Kikonzo cell in Kasese Municipality said most schools he visited, both government aided and privately owned hardly made half of their enrolment. Hon. Jimmy speaking………
Kasese Guide Radio is yet to monitor the effectiveness of several operations against loitering school going age, including Nyamwamba Division whose local council three chairperson, Mr. Pimako threatened to arrest and charge the affected parents with child negligence.
