    Schools are still waiting for guidelines on how to protect learners from Ebola

    Whereas many schools across the country await guidelines from the ministries of Education and Health on what they should do to protect learners from Ebola outbreak, Kasese District Education Officer, Mr.Goerge Mayinja calls for Vigilance and Observance of SOP,s.

    Schools are among the places that attract huge crowds, necessitating their heads to heighten vigilance to ensure safety of learners.

    Mayinja urged teachers to sensitize their students about the outbreak and on how to observe personal hygiene including hand washing.

    Speaking at the meeting of Association of secondary school headtaechers of Uganda-ASSHU Kasese branch held yesterday at St., Charles Vocational secondary school in Bwera sub-county, Mr. Mayinja, calls for collaborated effort towards Ebola prevention.

    Mr. Alan Muhindo, Chairperson Association of Private Secondary Schools Head teachers of Uganda –Kasese Branch asked ASSHU to lobby Government address understaffing of science teachers, lack of Laboratory equipment and provide text books to accommodate the increasing number of learners.     The chairperson ASSHU Kasese branch, Mr. Joseph Nzukwa, asked the District Education Officer Mr.Goerge Mayinja to analyze fake appointment and transfers among secondary teachers.

    He asked Head teachers to be teachers of patriotism in schools and being the climate changers by planting trees in schools. END.
