Mr. Saulo Maate, the former Kasese District Forum for Democratic Change chairman has described as diversionary statements by Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat that the people for Kasese should never reconcile and forgive the Museveni regime for evading the Buhikira Royal Palace in Kasese.
In 2016, the security of Uganda attacked the Rwenzururu Kingdom palace where hundreds were arrested including the King, and more than fifty lives lost.
Addressing hundreds of people, majority FDC members at Kilembe quarters play ground in Kasese Municipality over the weekend, Eng. Amuriat asked the Banya-Rwenzururu not to forgive Mr. Museveni over the attack, a statement Mr. Saulo asked the subjects to ignore because it contradicts the reconciliatory and mindset change mobilization moves that the King was rallying his subjects for. Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio in Kasese town this afternoon, Mr. Saulo also faulted the Amuriat government for asking the Kasese people to vote for particular candidates before the party’s election road map is out, a move he said demoralizes the intending political candidates in the party. The former police officer later blamed the current regime and President Museveni for suppressing the youth from exercising their constitutional right for a peaceful demonstration tomorrow against the rampant corruption in Uganda. When asked about plans for a new political party by the FDC Katonga faction, Mr. Saulo said their National Delegates Conference on August 2nd 2024, will decide over the matter. END.
