By Augustine Mumbere,
Mr. Saulo Maate, the People’s Front for Freedom party Coordinator for Kasese district, call for dialogue between the government of Uganda and a section of Civil servants over the latter’s ongoing industrial action than intimidating those involved.
Earlier this month, the Uganda National Teachers’ Union declared a countrywide industrial action, citing government failure to address salary increments and discrepancies among civil servants.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at the district party offices yesterday, Mr. Saulo called for dialogue that would involve an in depth interpretations and plans that government has about the current salary concerns by civil servants, mainly teachers.
He was concerned over reports that some government leaders were not only silent about the grievances of the teachers but openly threatening to arrest them over the ongoing sit down strike. Mr. Saulo speaking1…….
Mr. Saulo was however concerned that the industrial action by teachers would boost private schools and register more failures now that learners preparing for national exams, have no guidance from their teachers.
Mr. Saulo speaking2..……
He asks parents and guardians to privately engage teachers of their reach to help mainly those in candidate classes. END
