Ms. Sarah Ithungu Baleke, the Chief Executive Director for Mountain Girl Initiative, a non-governmental organization based in Kasese district has expressed concern over the poor health conditions in the Internally Displaced People’s camps in Kasese.
Addressing media shortly after donating 1500 kilograms of cassava flour to landslides victims in the constituencies of Busongora north and Bukonzo East yesterday, Ms. Sarah Baleke, the Kasese district NRM woman flag bearer pledged to advocate for improved living conditions among camp occupants whose predicaments should not be fueled by a poor health environment.
She was particularly touched by the IDP at Buhungu COU camp in Kyalhumba subcounty where about 200 people sleep under one tent and Kasangali camp in Bwesumbu subcounty where the victims are threatened by snakes.
Ms Sarah later called on Good Samaritans in and outside Kasese district for both food and non-food relief aid, particularly beddings and shelter among other items. Ms. Sarah speaking……..
Last month, Kasese district was hit by mud and landslides that claimed lives, destroyed homesteads and crops among other items. END
