By Peter Masereka,
Kabale Diocese’s top administration is planning a fundraising event with the intention of taking over the tarmacking of Rushoroza Road in Kabale municipality, according to security investigations.
The 2.47-kilometer road connects Kabale Diocesan Headquarters to the Katuna-Kabale-Mbarara Highway and is part of the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development project in addition to Bwankosa and Bushekwire Roads under the same project.
The Multiplex Construction Company Limited was contracted to tarmac the roads in May 2021, with the project funded by the World Bank.
However despite several extensions, the construction work has remained at the leveling stage and drainage system preparation after the municipality leadership has been unsuccessful in compelling the contractor to complete the work.
As a result, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, confirms that security intelligence indicates that the Kabale diocese’s top administration plans to use this year’s Bishop Annual Appeal fundraising function to collect money for tarmacking the Road.
Mr. Nyakahuma also mentions that the diocese officials’ anger was raised after the Office of the Inspectorate of Government blocked the municipality authorities from terminating the contract with Multiplex Construction Company Limited.

Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi assures that he has spoken to Kabale Diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Calist Rubaramira and that the matter will be handled.
