Over 20 participants from Kasese district have been recognized as potential national and international athletes in future by the organizers of recently concluded Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon.
Mr. Charles Mugisa Police, the chairperson for the Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum, an organization aimed at promoting tourism in Kasese, called for massive support to the runners’ welfare in Kasese he said had performed well.

According to Mr. Police, Mr. Alex Mbwarara Masereka hailing from Mahango village, emerged the best among the runners from Kasese at 2:38 hours compared to 2:21 hours run by the overall winner, Benard Cheptoch. Mr. Police speaking1………
Mr. Police commended Mr. Amos Wekesa, the brain behind the marathon, for his sense of humanity and gifts he said will boost the morale of local runners from Kasese, all of whom received cash, high class jerseys and sports shoes. Mr. Police speaking2….

Other winners for the 42.2 kilometers included Milton Mugisa and Benjamin Thembo all from Mahango village as well as Sajoni Masereka and Milton Thembo hailing from Kasese Municipality. Ms Eva Masika from Kasese Municipality, Jovia Biira from Mahango village and Janet Masika from Kilembe subcounty, are the women who were among the best runners for the 42.1 kilometers race. END
