Over Sixty million shillings have been raised today for roofing Rukoki Health Center Four Maternity ward in Kasese Municipality.
The Maternity ward accommodating labor suit, cold chain and staff offices among others gutted fire two years ago, leaving the facility stranded.
Now Kasese Rotary snow peaks in collaboration with partners organized Rukoki Maternity Marathon to save mothers that raised over sixty million out of 175 through selling marathon kits and well-wisher contributions.
Officiating as Chief Guest, the Minister of state for National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga, said despite the intervention of the local community to rehabilitate the maternity ward, Government has released seven hundred million shillings to the UPDF engineering Brigade to construct more structures at the facility. Kabyanga revealed that government is planning to elevate Rukoki Health center four to a hospital status next financial year to serve the increasing Population with good health care services.
Kabyanga cautioned the organizers of the marathon and the facility in charge against diverting the funds but properly utilize the money for public accountability.
