The Rubirizi District Health Officer Dr. Tibenda Sete and the District Health Inspector Jennifer Kyarimpa have been arrested by the Office of the Inspector of Government.
The two officials are accused of allegedly presenting false accountability and causing financial loss to the government of over 105 Million shillings.
They were arrested yesterday from the district headquarters in Ndekye Town Council.
Fredrick Oketch, the Western Region Inspector says the arrests follow complaints they received last year that covid-19 funds had been mismanaged by the officials from the Health Department.
He says they launched investigations which revealed the money that was meant to train members of the community against Covid-19 was misused and trainings not conducted.
According to Oketch, the officials allegedly forged receipts purporting that the training was conducted.
He adds that during investigations Dr. Tibenda presented a forged receipt of 62 million shillings alleging that it was for the food supplied during the training. Mr.Fredrick on Forgeries…..
Oketch says that the officials will today appear before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo on charges of causing financial loss to the government
The arrest of the two officials comes barely two weeks after the Anti-Corruption Court, Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro convicted Doreen Tusiime the former Rubirizi principal human resource officer of causing financial loss to the government. END.
